The International Autoimmune Disease
Research Foundation, or IADRF, is international in scope and is
dedicated to research in various
diseases that fall into a category known as "autoimmune
diseases" and "immune-mediated disorders."
The
Mission of IADRF
IADRF has the mission of carrying out six basic functions toward
four specific goals:
The Six Functions
1. Raise funds for research in autoimmune diseases and immune-mediated
disorders.
2. Award research grants to qualified applicants in relevant fields
of research.
3. Interact with other organizations that have interest and expertise
in the autoimmune disease and immune-mediated disorder fields,
such as other foundations, academic medical centers with premier
research programs, the National Institutes of Health, and the Food
and Drug Administration.
4. Work with researchers to fund the most promising research regardless
of disease entity.
5. Serve as an agent of change regarding challenges that pose barriers
to the battles against autoimmune diseases and immune-mediated
disorders.
6. Explore the opportunity to work with major universities and
private-practice physicians in various communities to establish
therapeutic centers for autoimmune diseases and immune-mediated
disorders. Initially these will be infusion centers that will provide
a home for improved patient care and innovative research.
The Four Goals
1. Serve as a catalyst, conduit, and repository for autoimmune
and immune-mediated disorder research and as a central clearinghouse
for relevant funding mechanisms.
2. Improve cooperation and collaboration among philanthropists,
foundations, clinical researchers, basic science researchers, clinicians,
and other individuals and entities with interest in and/or involvement
in the autoimmune and immune-mediated disorder battle.
3. Increase awareness of the toll taken by autoimmune and immune-mediated
disorders and the opportunities that exist to reduce that toll.
4. Support research that leads to improved treatments and in many
cases cures for autoimmune and immune-mediated disorders. |
